Key Responsibilities:
As Body Shop/Collision Painter/Prepper, you will be responsible for automotive preparation for painting, with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Prepare vehicles for a paint job by performing thorough sanding, masking, and priming procedures, ensuring smooth and flawless surfaces.
- Inspect vehicles to identify imperfections, scratches, or dents that require repair or attention.
- Using appropriate tools and paint sprayer equipment to perform necessary repairs and adjustments.
- Utilizing paint tools and techniques for a paint job such as a spray gun, paint thinner, epoxy primer, clear coat, new paint, heavy paints, remove paint and old paint, entire vehicle, etc.
- Using a process for vehicle primer, block sand, body filler, filler material, sandpaper grit, masking tape, etc.
- Collaborate with the paint team to ensure proper color matching and automotive paint application techniques for car painting.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company guidelines.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, techniques, and best practices related to auto body repair and painting.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers to ensure a seamless workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Assist with other duties in the body shop as needed.
What you bring to the role
The key skills and qualities of a Body Shop Painter Prepper:
- High School diploma, relevant courses, or post-secondary education.
- 2-5 years of direct work experience in automotive repairs, body shop and service with luxury vehicles.
- Proven experience as an auto body prepper, automobile prepper, paint prepper, or in a similar role within the automotive collision repair industry.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify imperfections or flaws in surfaces.
- Proficient in using various tools and equipment required for auto body preparation.
- Knowledge of different painting techniques, color matching, and surface preparation methods.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, managing time effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
